Nanoflex Robotics achieves telethrombectomy breakthrough

14-08-2025 – Nanoflex Robotics conducts first transatlantic remote animal thrombectomy study

Nanoflex Press Release Aug2025

Nanoflex Robotics has completed landmark preclinical studies demonstrating the world’s first robot-assisted transatlantic animal thrombectomy, linking a surgeon in Arizona with a live model in Switzerland. The Remote Intervention System (RIS) successfully enabled real-time clot removal over 9,000 km, marking a major step toward remote stroke care.

The trials, conducted with Inselspital and University Hospital of Zurich, also proved feasibility for intra-Switzerland hospital-to-hospital interventions and bedside robotic vascular procedures.

“This milestone marks a pivotal moment as we enter a new era where precision emergency care can be delivered remotely,” said Matt Curran, CEO of Nanoflex Robotics.

The company is now preparing first-in-human trials and pursuing additional funding to advance its telerobotic platform.
