Potential

Our aim is to develop an advanced sealant patch to mitigate and eradicate postoperative digestive fluid leaks, a common and often deadly complication following surgeries on abdominal cavity organs.

Project Description

Every year, more than 14 million patients worldwide undergo life-saving abdominal operations for conditions ranging from cancer to obesity and beyond. However, over 10% of these patients experience postoperative leakage of digestive and bacterially-active fluids into the abdominal cavity — a serious and often deadly complication.

Veltist is developing AnastoSEAL, a next-generation sealant patch designed, benchmarked, and engineered to eradicate this life-threatening postoperative deterioration. By combining a robust adhesive and sealant technology with an integrated early-warning mechanism, AnastoSEAL not only prevents leaks but also enables rapid identification of emerging complications by surgeons and clinical staff.

The project aims to validate the AnastoSEAL technology, scale up its manufacturing processes, and initiate early-stage clinical investigations in humans.

With its innovative dual-function design, AnastoSEAL aspires to represent a major leap forward in surgical and postoperative care: making surgeries safer, accelerating patient recovery times, providing critical insights when they are most needed, lowering healthcare costs, and democratizing access to improved outcomes in modern surgery.
