More about Our Support and Services

Financing

Selected projects receive monetary contributions from the Wyss Zurich Foundation via a 2-stage process:

  • Stage 1: Funding up to CHF 1’500’000 for medical and robotics projects
  • Stage 2*: Funding up to CHF 1’500’000 for robotics projects
  • Stage 2*: Funding up to CHF 4’500’000 for medical projects

* Continued funding is dependent on achieving milestones and recommendations from the Evaluation Board

In addition to direct financial support, projects benefit from in-kind contributions through access to the Regenerative Medicine Technologies Platform and/or the Biomedical and Robotics Technologies Platform, which offer infrastructure, expertise, and technical assistance. All financial contributions are allocated to dedicated project accounts managed by ETH Zurich (ETH) and/or the University of Zurich (UZH) and must comply with the respective universities’ and Technology Platforms’ guidelines.

ETH Zurich and/or UZH retain an equity stake in any future startup that emerges from the supported projects, reflecting their early support. Projects are encouraged (particularly in stage 2) to secure alternative or complementary sources of funding to overcome the valley of death.

Support

Wyss Zurich provides comprehensive operational and strategic support to selected projects through various services and resources. Administrative services and digital infrastructure, including assistance with human resources, finance management, recruitment, legal, IT, and secure data storage, are available via ETH and/or the UZH.

Wyss Zurich facilitates investor relations by connecting projects with potential investors and fosters collaboration and knowledge sharing via regular events, workshops, and networking sessions that promote community building and the exchange of entrepreneurial best practices.

Additionally, selected projects can receive entrepreneurial support via personalized entrepreneurship, mentoring and coaching opportunities.

Infrastructure

Wyss Zurich provides selected projects with access to a variety of workspaces and facilities to support their development activities. Dedicated office space and meeting rooms are available at the Wyss Zurich WEH Building, located at Weinbergstrasse 35, 8092 Zurich, Switzerland. The building also features open collaboration areas and a terrace designed to encourage teamwork and informal meetings. In addition, prototyping and storage areas support early-stage design and development work.

Projects requiring cleanroom manufacturing facilities can access GMP-certified laboratories and office spaces.

To facilitate mobility for project-related activities, Wyss Zurich provides access to a van and e-bikes. All infrastructure and resources are subject to availability.
